kitchen and breakfast nook..then and now!

When we first built the house we used the diningroom as a storage room so meals were eaten in the breakfast nook all the time:

Since then I have built a new hutch and repurposed the the white one for my upstairs bathroom.  it barely fits into space reserved for a separate shower stall.

The hutch has abt a quarter in to spare on either side but adds plenty of bathroom storage.  The shelves I had there are now in the hallway holding books!

These kitchen pictures are from when we first built the house but still have the same appliances, etc....

My house has the open floor plan downstairs and you can easily see into the kitchen and breakfast nook from the family room: 

I have since made new curtains for the breakfast nook- a floral design that seems to suit it better:

The perfect pantry

I love to cook ( and yes I'm good at it !) so my house needed the perfect pantry...big room, plenty of shelves, and a standing freezer! (Hey I worry abt falling into a chest freezer - short girl problems!)

yep I love the built-in wire shelving - makes finding stuff (even over my head) easier!

 But sometimes you just need MORE shelves so I added some free-standing ones.

Love the 16 cu ft freezer and we keep it fairly full too.

THere's room under the shelves for more storage.

What I love the most is that it is right off the garage.  After shopping the groceries go straight into the pantry.

Ch-ch-changes!

I have been busy over the past 2 years updating my house and have finally have pictures of some of the changes:

This was my dining room- it was used for storage! 

Now we actually dine there every evening! 

Next is the exercise room:

now it's a storage room/spare bedroom:

My exercise bike, along with the tv & workout videos, was moved into the master: 

The storage room got a new coat of paint though....

It's a peachy-pink and the curtains I actually made (yaay me!). 

Here are a last few glimpses - my sofa pillows, the pretty green paint for my hallway and stairs, my front room (with piano) and the hutch I built (well it was in a box...) I feel pretty satisfied with these changes, but I will be doing more this fall!
